Uxbridge v Wembley Cricket Club 2nd XI SAT on Mon 28 Aug 2006 at 1pm
Wembley Cricket Club Won
On a pitch that had been sweating under the covers overnight and with showers predicted my Michael Fish it was an easy decision to field first whoever won the toss...Thankfully that was us. Raj Amunugama struck early taking two crucial wickets of Michael Darvill & Chris Alder and after ten overs Uxbridge were struglling at 26 for 2. Ifti Mohammed & Muddassa Zaman bowled well without success until Muddi's last over when he had Winson trapped leg before. The spin of Umair Malik & Mo Merali was introduced into the attack in the 23rd over and together they ran through the Uxbridge middle order. Together they took 7 for 43 from their 16 overs with Umair taking 4 wickets & Mo 3. They were aided by two brilliant catches from Umair & Milan Gandhi...Yes, I did say Milin!!! Uxbridge ended their innings on 131 after 37.4 overs with Greg McDowell carrying his bat for a well made 76.
The tea interval brought a heavy downpoar and play was delayed for some time. The sun finally came out about 6.05pm which meant Uxbridge had just enough time to bowl the required 20 overs to constitute a game. Assuming we weren't bowled out in those 20 overs, we just had to reach the meagre total of 66 to win the match, which we did with ease, ending up on 97-3 with Raj Yadav falling one short of an entertaining 50.
Acton or Ruislip now await us in the final at Winchmore Hill on Saturday 16th September so please do come along and show your support.
