An excellent game on a wet track, which reminded me that games on uncovered wickets cold be far more interesting than many on today's bland featherbeds!
We were invited to bat first (which I was pleased about) and lost early wickets due to some tidy bowling and some poor shot selections. Only Huw made much impression with a rapid 34, but we were in trouble at 70-5. Ifti, Has, Prinnay and Mudasser then grafted for runs and got us over the 100. Once Has was dismissed, Mudy decided that, with only Mohsin and Nabs left, he could not afford to hang around! A succession of fine shots took him to 34 and lifted the final total to a respectable total, on the pitch, of 143 all out.
Ickenham never really looked like threatening our score. Our bowling and fielding was about the best we have managed all season, with Ifti moving the ball around with great control and Mudy looking constantly dangerous. Prinnay came on to rest Mudy and bowled 7 immaculate overs, conceding just 8 runs (2 boundaries). When Mudy returned to the attack, Ickenham were quickly finished off, all out for 75 in 33 overs. A great display of focused and discipkined bowling by the 3 of them, with Mudy (4-39 and 34) sharing the man-of-the-match award with Ifti (5-24 and 21).
