Colts Registration Morning
Dear Parents/Carers

I am writing to inform you of the date for this year’s Colts registration morning. In the past we have had an open morning where you can come along at a time that suits you, but this year the club has some new Child Safety and Welfare guidelines that it needs to discuss with all parents, so the meeting will start at a fixed time, you can then hand in your application forms and fees after this meeting.

We plan to hold this presentation at 11-00am. on Sunday 28th March the discussion should take no more than 30 minutes after which we will answer any questions regarding the new guidelines, and then proceed with the registration.

You will see that the application form has changed from last year and there are a number of new Parental/Carer consents required, please read the application form carefully and tick all the required boxes. At the end of the form (in section 8) you will see there is reference to a number of new Club policies, these will be the main topics of discussion at the meeting.

Please make every effort to come to this meeting, these guidelines have been written with your children in mind and are designed to make the club environment as safe as possible.

The Club also needs these forms returned by the date of the meeting so we can update our database before the start of the season, making sure we have the correct phone numbers in case of an emergency, and any relevant medical information if needed.

The Cost of Subscriptions for the year will be £45 for U9 and £50 for U10 –U17. This covers the cost of summer coaching activities and any junior matches played. Any extra coaching courses attended (normally indoors in the winter) or selection for senior matches are subject to extra charges.

FUN RUN EVENT 11th April 2010 @11:00AM

You are hereby invited to attend a fun run held at Wembley Cricket Club grounds on Sunday the 11th of April 2010 @ 11:00 AM

The aim of the event is to get members active, competitive, motivate them towards a fitness goal, have a fun group day for the entire club, and raise a bit of money for the club.

Please invite your friends and family to come along and cheer you on.

The course will involve a circuit of the grounds and surrounding field.

There are 2 events: Individual and Group:

The individual event is a straight forward, best effort for 40mins.

The group event is relay race for 60 minutes with a maximum of 3 members per group. A baton will be used to ensure correct changeovers.

There is a small prize for the winner of each event plus a lot of bragging rights.

There is an additional incentive to keep going in the form of sponsorship. Please gain some sponsorship, however small, on a “per-lap-basis”. Sponsorship form can be downloaded from the link on the left menu bar. This will ensure your motivation to keep going in the final 5 minutes. All money raised will go towards Wembley Cricket Club.

There is an entry cost of £3 per participant. This is to cover refreshments supplied during the event: bananas, cool-drink and tea.

Colts Training 2010

The First outdoor Training for the Colts, will be Friday 16th April 6-30pm till 8-00pm. This session will be for the U11 to U15 age groups (school years 5-10). The club has decided to coach all these groups on one night as we feel we can provide the players with a more constructive training session as we have more coaches and helpers available on this particular evening.

The U9 age group will continue to train on Sunday mornings; their first session will be the 25th of April 10-00am till 11-30am.

The Girls section will also continue to train on Sundays details of training times and dates will follow shortly.

The U17 age group will continue as in recent years to train with the seniors on Wednesday evenings from 6-30 onwards throughout the season.

Training for the U9 – U15 age groups will run upto the start of the school summer holidays the date of the final session will be decided during the course of the season.

The Subscription Fees for the coming season will be £45 for the under U9’s and £50 for U11-U17. This fee covers the cost of all summer coaching sessions and any junior matches played. The Club is looking into the possibility of running week long cricket training courses during the school Holidays if there is enough interest. If these courses do go ahead and your child wishes to attend there will be a separate charge applied.

Contact details for the age group managers will given out at the registration morning along with fixtures for the various teams.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

In accordance with para 8 of the constitution, notice is hereby given that the AGM of the Wembley Cricket Club will be held on Monday 15th February 2010 at 8.30 p.m. in the Club House.

You are invited to nominate members to stand for election as officers (including captains and vice-captains) of the club. The nomination form must be signed by a proposer, a seconder and by the nominee and returned to Dave Joshi no later than 7 days before the AGM. This means that all nominations must reach him at the home address by Monday 8th February 2010. The nomination form is available elsewhere on this website.

All adult members, junior members over 16 and current officers and vice-presidents of the club have the right to propose officers and to vote at the AGM for nominees.

In the absence of any nominations for a position, the Chairman may accept suitable nominations from the floor at the AGM; or, alternatively, a vacancy may be filled at a later date by the cricket committee.

All members are strongly encouraged to attend the AGM at this important time for the club. This is your opportunity to have a say in the running of the club; please make every effort to attend.

Senior nets every Wednesday (from 3 February 2010) 8 pm to 9 pm at John Lyon School, Middle Road, Harrow. HA2 0HN. The charges are :

Batting & bowling = £5
Bowling only = £3

Last indoor nets on Wednesday 14 April 2010.

The match on 2 January 2010 was played as part of Wembley Cricket Club's 150th anniversary celebrations. There are more unusual events planned for 2010. Watch this space for further announcements throughout the year.

Seasons greetings to all our members and all site visitors. Enjoy the festive period and New Year celebrations.

Congratulations to John Gale for winning the club man of the year award at the club dinner evening on 27 November 2009. As well as playing for the first team, John has been the Colts secretary for the past five years and has also been involved with about 50% of the maintenance work carried out at the club. He is well known for getting the old sidescreens in good working order before the start of each season. Well Done Blowy.....

Please note Wembley Cricket Club's annual dinner evening is on Friday 27 November 2009 at the clubhouse (7.30 pm for 8 pm sitting). Apart from the four course dinner, which includes a vegetarian option, there will be entertaining guest speakers. The event will also include presentation of awards to player of the year for each of the club's senior teams. The cost is £28 per person, and "concessions for colts".

You are requested to contact Charlie Meyers to register your attendance and/or to obtain further details. As the food is provided by outside caterers, it would assist if you can contact him to register your interest as soon as possible.
